Do you like to glance in/rummage in skips? Have you ever had a "find" in a skip?

Ooh you little borrower. And no accreditation.
No, in answer to your Q, I prefer filling em.
If you saw what people put in skips here you'd need a biohazard suit.

Zacs? Did you mention skips somewhere else? asks innocently
It must have been subliminal
in a manner of speaking

i was assigned one day last year to assist in throwing away old archives and other assorted junk from our depot and the shops into a skip at work

i found, in one of the hoppers, four boxes of brand new note pads.. my boss allowed me to keep a couple of the note pads, and we took the rest along to a car boot sale we held for charity
Mmmm. Strange that.
No I don't browse through skips but I have picked up amazing stuff from recycling centres.
Always glance in as I walk past but if I did see something desirable I would be too embarrassed to take it in case someone saw me as some sort of scavenger!
Suppose it would be OK if at night. I'd always worry that the person might change their mind and come out to retrieve it...it would still technically belong to them.
As RATTER said recycling centres can be treasure troves!
I found a couple of half decent bikes on skips. I tidied them up a bit and gave them away of Freecycle. Also found a bookcase that I still use.

I did once spot a piece of treasure in a skip but I asked the owner if I could take it.
It was a vintage anglepoise lamp with a square base. I sold it for £80
Great Mrs. O - good on you!
Just off out for rest of day- it's glorious here!! x

I'm off too now.
Have a good day yoga xx
No, I've never rummaged through a skip. We did have a bloke come and ask us if he could take some stuff out of ours. I told him to help himself.
Yes I'm a proper skip diver and love it. We've found all sorts of things including a slightly damaged Georgian tea table which I'm looking at now:)
I have a cream footstool and a very nice fruit bowl that I got from a skip. I did knock first as I felt funny about just taking it. Also when I had a skip last year, I had a number of people knock and ask if they could have something from the skip.
I'm also off to a big jumble sale in a very posh area today so I have great hopes of what I might find there. I wear and alter vintage stuff rather than buy much new so I do the clothes and shoes and my brother does the furniture and bric a brac- it's going to be awesome! Sorry quite excited, I love a shopping spree for a fiver :)
So sorry when our local recycling centre closed down. Have acquired gardening tools, pine blanket box, old fashioned scrubbing board for our drama group, bits of wood, child's dolls house etc. Love having a look. Always amazed at what people throw away. I put everything on Freegle.
I had a friend whose husband was always taking things from skips. We went round there one day and they had two televisions that he had salvaged. The only problem was one had sound only and the other only had a picture so they were playing them both. It was a bit odd to say the least.
my sister used to get lovely stuff from skips me - I loathe them - wouldn't never go one.
I picked some books out of a skip once.
My daughter found a couple of perfectly good lap trays in a skip - the kind with a cushion under for eating your dinner on your lap.
