Hi

Does anyone have a really good curry recipe?

I don't want to use pre prepared sauces etc - just traditional (well Western'ised) ingredients / flavours.

Hot is good!

Anyone?

For the best and most authentic curry recipes, try www.mamtaskitchen.com.  You can search by ingredients (english or indian name) or course and everything i've cooked has turned out beautifully.  You might need a trip to your local ethnic store for some of the more unusual spices but it is well worth it.  I especially recommend Matar Paneer (panner cheese with peas).  Yum!

I have like you tried home-made curries but I just cannot recreate that restaurant taste. Therefore what I do is to ring the local Indian, order King Prawn Jalfrezi phall hot with extra green chillies, Bombay Aloo phall hot, vegetable rice, and garlic naan with extra garlic. When they say it'll be about 20 minutes, tell them to take as long as they like, just make it a superb curry.

If you like hot, try this site:

and order some habaneros when they are available. These are incredibly hot. We took one to a curry house in Wimbledon, even the waiters wouldn't try it, and I ended up outside in the cool air trying to salve the pain in my mouth. Yes, but what sweet pain!

So my recipe is to get someone else to bring one round.
