We are going camping on Sat night. Just for one night. Consequently, I don't want to pack a load of cooking equipment. I shall have two gas rings at my disposal. What would you cook in advance to take with you just to heat through (and please not chilli, it has a terrible effect on Mr BM and I just KNOW the toilets at this event will be less than salubrious).
Could you make a nice stew to take and just warm up in a pan or something like a hotpot, maybe more souplike so more liquid and less solid stuff so it will heat up quicker, especially if your gas rings are only small. Soup is another option.
If you have a cool bag to keep things cool then maybe sausages cooked and kept cold, cold sausage sandwiches are lovely!
Only problem with that, Eve, is that I loathe and detest sausages and I am not massively keen on stew. I WILL be taking some though cos Mini Mr BM can eat his own bodyweight in sausages. (Seeing as I cant cook pizza in the middle of a field).
I've got to take the gas rings because I cant function without a gallon of coffee in the morning. So I might as well take some food to slap on it the night before.
Maybe pasta with something nice which can be eaten cold like chargrilled mushroom pasta salad with some parmesan, pesto, mustard, olive (or other infused) oil or vinaigrette etc... Nice with cold already cooked chicken.
How about a ramen? Make the broth and have the veg and meat cooked and ready, just chuck it all in a pan with the noodles. Nice and filling with the noodles.
in similar circs BM, I've home-precooked meatballs or koftas and made a sauce separately, which only leaves warming the two together in one pan and cooking rice, pasta or couscous in another
