We are going camping on Sat night. Just for one night. Consequently, I don't want to pack a load of cooking equipment. I shall have two gas rings at my disposal. What would you cook in advance to take with you just to heat through (and please not chilli, it has a terrible effect on Mr BM and I just KNOW the toilets at this event will be less than salubrious).

How about a pasta sauce, then cook the pasta and reheat the sauce.
Oh I wish I could suggest something, Eccles...but you know me..:-(
However, in view of the toilets...can you not just scramble lots of eggs? x
Question Author
pasta + sauce is a distinct possibility.

Gness, lol. We went 3 years ago, the facilities were absolutely minging. I don't actually want to eat or drink ANYTHING!
Why did I call you Eccles?..I know who you are...God I need to lie down... today has not been my favourite day...:-(
Steak sausages, fresh rolls and some salad are ASBO's needs being seen to?
Question Author
ASBO is a very happy boy, Psybbo. Since we got back he has been my shadow. He LOVED Cat Lady and she loved him.
Question Author
Hmmm, that's an idea. Slivers of steak with red onion marmalade in crusty baguettes. CBA with salad.
Could you make a nice stew to take and just warm up in a pan or something like a hotpot, maybe more souplike so more liquid and less solid stuff so it will heat up quicker, especially if your gas rings are only small. Soup is another option.

If you have a cool bag to keep things cool then maybe sausages cooked and kept cold, cold sausage sandwiches are lovely!
For one night? I wouldn't bother with anything above a Pot Noodle
Question Author
Only problem with that, Eve, is that I loathe and detest sausages and I am not massively keen on stew. I WILL be taking some though cos Mini Mr BM can eat his own bodyweight in sausages. (Seeing as I cant cook pizza in the middle of a field).
Question Author
lol, B00.

I've got to take the gas rings because I cant function without a gallon of coffee in the morning. So I might as well take some food to slap on it the night before.
Maybe pasta with something nice which can be eaten cold like chargrilled mushroom pasta salad with some parmesan, pesto, mustard, olive (or other infused) oil or vinaigrette etc... Nice with cold already cooked chicken.
Don't eat. It won't kill you.
Question Author
No, it wont. But I would prefer my family to have a decent meal before we bed down for the night in a cold tent!
How about a ramen? Make the broth and have the veg and meat cooked and ready, just chuck it all in a pan with the noodles. Nice and filling with the noodles.
Hi Barmaid, For just ONE night do you need to cook anything ? Just take piles of yours & Mr B's favorite sarnies.

WR.
hard boiled eggs, lots of cold meat, nice rolls.
my vote is for the steak, crusty bread and onion relish thing. Yummy at any time but out in the open air, its the food of the Gods.
in similar circs BM, I've home-precooked meatballs or koftas and made a sauce separately, which only leaves warming the two together in one pan and cooking rice, pasta or couscous in another
Cheeese, Olives, Crsurty Bread and Rde Wnie ... what couldpossibly go wroing?
