Apart from stew/casserole meals, what else can you make in a slow cooker? Thanks.

Spag bol, chilli con carne, curry, pot roasts, rice pudding, porridge
steamed sponge
Green Tomato Chutney, Blackberry & Chilli Jam - both come out lovely, especially when the recipe asks for a pressure cooker
My Dad cooks a whole chicken....not quite roast, but very tasty.
If you have facebook, there are sites on there with ideas, beware though they all seem quite obsessed by it all.
Slow cooked wonders is the one I've been on.
As above, I just try anything - I couldn't believe how well the chutney turned out.
Hc, do you put the porridge in before you go to be so that it's ready for the morning?

Thanks for your answers. Don't really do chutney and things. Just wondered if it was worth getting one (there's a big one (6.5ltrs) on special offer in Aldi on Thursday).
Sherr, I use mine more han I thought I would, I especially like sticking a bacon/gammon joint in it all day then serving it up with mash and veg.
put a roast beef joint in with a bit of soya sauce and some onions and leave it to cook, wonderful.

I had one before and all I cooked in it was a obey glazed ham just that we just ate in sandwiches, never once managed to make a meal with the ham it was so nice (think it must have been a wedding present).
rocky, I do cook the porridge overnight but I only use my very old slow cooker for that.
I honestly think new slow cookers are a lot more powerful and can cook things too quickly.

I use mine for all sorts of things. chicken cooks well in them and most meat joints can be cooked without any fat.
I think you're right hc, my cooker, even on the lowest setting cooks much quicker than the suggested times.
sher looking at the offer it's a really good price. The only note of caution is 6.5 litres is a very big slow cooker unless you're regularly cooking for six to eight, or geared up to cook and freeze half

I'm a big fan, they're really versatile and cheap to run, plenty of good ideas here

Soup works well, though we use a pressure cooker more than the slow cooker.

great for meat joints escecially lamb as the meat just falls of the bone. Better than an oven.. You can cook nearly anything in one. Best item in tthe kitchen. Make sure you get the correct size for your needs
