Where is the best place to keep bananas?  I always buy green bananas but wherever I put them, within 2 days they start to go brown. I have tried the lounge, dining room and kitchen to keep them but no go.

don't put bananas next to any citrus fruit, they go brown much quicker(some chemical reason i'm much to thick to comprehend) and they also last longer if you hang them, like you see them growing.
Don't put bananas in the fridge either, they will go brown.

Thankyou dabees and Dark Angel. I do hang my bananas and I don't refrigerate them but they still go off very quickly.  Do you think it is because I keep them in the kitchen where it can get a bit warm?
Possibly - cool and dry is better.
I think it's just the fruit, mine are on a banana tree and I buy them as green as possible, but they are always brown and squidgy after a couple of days. Mine are also kept away from all other fruit and in a relatively cool, light place

Many thanks for all your responses.

I dunno if it's bananas, but there's something that you put in a brown paper bag and they go ripe. Can't remember, think it could be advocados, but try it with bananas.

put your bananas in a white supermarket carrier bag in the fridge and they will keep for up to 2 weeks before going brown.
