I've been given some fruit pudding, which I'm told is a breakfast dish eaten fried or grilled.

Is it? And do you have it with your egg and bacon fry up?

As everyone has already said, fry it along with your normal brekkie or I know several people who eat it as desert with custard. Sweet or savoury... it's up to you. Enjoy sloopy xx
Interesting Scots' choice of breakfast ... here in South Africa a firm favourite is french toast with bacon and banana! Sounds weird perhaps, but trust me it's really delicious. Some like streaky bacon, I prefer back ... if it appeals and you like, try adding maple syrup – even better!
Sounds nice lino....a sandwich with banana and bacon inside , dunk the whole thing in egg and fry....a fav of mine !
To get the true 'taste of Scotland ' you should coat it in batter and deep fry it :-)
Makes a change from Mars bars . Accompany it with some 'Glasgow Salad' (chips)
Bottom right in the photo is fruit pudding. I say photo, this is actually a prescription for health food. :P

I love the uncomplicated nature of Scots cuisine - where things are designated by physical characteristsics ...

... square sausage, broon sauce, black pudding
