Espresso ... Really??

Okay, small confession first.

I'm sitting in Starbucks, trying to kid myself that I'm "up and at 'em" because I've made it out of my flat. But, in reality, doing bugger all.

However ...

While I've been sitting here (sorry, I mean "grabbing a coffee while catching up on some important work", ahem) several people have bought an Espresso to go.

So they walk out, carefully holding their little cardboard cup, which contains about 2cms of coffee. And takes about five seconds to drink.

Where are they going? Do they get to work, and think ... okay, only NOW can I drink my teeny little coffee, which has, of course, gone cold by that time.

If you want an Espresso shot, don't you go in, buy it, and drink it? If you take a coffee away, it should give you a good half an hour of drinking, once you finally get round to drinking it.

I enjoy watching the world go by. Especially here, coz there are so many weirdos. Not me, of course. I'm normal. Well, not "normal" for here. "Normal" for here is weird, if you see what I mean.

Hi! JJ......one cannot get a good cup of coffee anywhere in the UK of whatever description.
No idea why, but in my opinion Spanish coffee is far superior.

Personally, I need that tiny little espresso every morning, to get me going but I can't see why they don't just drink it and leave. It must take all of 3 seconds to get it down the hatch.

I love a double espresso in the mornings but I always sit down to savour it and would never buy it in Starbucks, their coffee is gross!!

i only like Italian espresso, in Italy, and will never ever again go in to Starbucks, waste of money, their coffee was awful

I totally agree Sqad, not necessarily Spanish though, I have had great coffee in France, Greece and Italy but very rarely in the UK, great shame!

Back in the mid-eighties I worked for BT in central London, only going home to Wales every fortnight for the weekend. I discovered the Bar Italia, in Frith Street after coming out of Ronnie Scotts and it was the first time I ever had "proper" coffee. As it was also the meeting point for just about everybody, i used to make my coffee last as long as I could, while enjoying the street scene...happy days !

I agree Ron, Costa coffee is very good, just so expensive, especially to eat there as well.

mikey...fabulous weather, had breakfast at a harbour cafe, outside and the feeling of son on one's neck and back was fabulous.
I admit.......this was the first time this year that one could breakfast alfresco..;-)
