I've just had a flyer from a Polish restaurant pushed through the letterbox. The delicacies on the menu include.
Sauerkraut & mushroom dumplings.
Potato pancakes & sauce.
Polish cabbage stew.
Happy cake?
Having been to a Polish restaurant some years ago, I don't think I will be darkening their doors again.

I can see why there are so many Poles in the UK, the meal was the worst I've ever had, unless you like Solvite, then it was the best.
Imagine what the food must be like in a Polish nick, lol.
the cabbage stew is probably bigos, hunter's stew, it's got loads of meat in it

There's some great, sticks to yer ribs, Polish food, and fab pastries but I'd steer clear of the flaczki though
Well I'd go - the food in the Polish shops round here (and the Eastern European shops) is delicious and filling.
there's a great Polish restaurant in Shepherd's Bush that I've been to a few times.

I'm studying Polish at evening classes at the moment. At the end of last term our group had a pre-Christmas meal at the Polish club in Cambridge. (Main courses listed here: http://www.klubpolonia.co.uk/files/dania%20miesne%2026%2009.pdf I had the Gołąbki z sosem grzybowym).
I really enjoyed the meal, as did everyone else. The reviews on TripAdvisor are also a good deal better than many 'celebrity chef' restaurants achieve:

Great food, sensible prices, great beers ( http://www.klubpolonia.co.uk/files/napoje%20zimne.pdf ). As Anne says, what's not to like?
Doesn`t sound too bad. I have been in Nigeria where the menu was:- Cow Leg Stew, Sheeps Foot Stew, Bushmeat Stew. I think I would prefer the Polish menu but I agree, I don`t like the food from that part of the world very much.

This is the one i went to. When it 1st opened it got panned by the food critic, thankfully it's now closed.
Oh be fair, Carrust. It was on Abbeydale Road, which is hardly known for the quality of the food establishments! (Written by someone who lived for a year in Nether Edge and later for two years on Abbeydale Road South, just across the road from The Beauchief). Ecclesall Road is the place to go for decent grub ;-)
Sheffield...

...that's in Yorkshire isn't it?
I went here for a wedding reception a few years ago. I hate wedding 'do's but this place was really good.

It's t' ruddy capital of Yorkshire, I'll have thee know, Humbersloop (and don't let anyone from Leeds tell thee owt different!!!)
I've never been to a Polish restaurant but Buenchico's menu looks inviting.
I have though been to an Armenian establishment and can report that the bread was delicious. Maybe the rest was too authentic for soft Scots but it was grim.
I had dinner at a peasant-style restaurant in Warsaw, and they brought me a tankard heaped up with what looked like hummus. I asked what it was and they said "fat". Apparently you have it on bread, like bread and dripping. However, I said I had enough of my own already.
Bllody 'ell, 237SJ, Exhibition Road, South Ken'. That's where all of the Bentleys, Daimlers, Rollers and Jags are lined up in the middle of the road. You obviously mix with the upper social classes ;-)
the prices are about average for London, Buenchico - and even at that level you don't always get a good meal.
Not in my case Buenchico. The groom was a friend of mine who married a Polish lady. Bentleys can`t park there - it` s a very busy road. That was one of the best wedding receptions I went to though because the venue was so lovely and there were only about 50 guests.
