Can anyone tell me anything about smoked River Cobblers?
They look like smoked Haddock but do they taste like them?

The river cobbler is a firm fish so it will not taste like haddock. Its taste is more like that of sole.

They are ok, not as nice as haddock. I stopped eating them when I found they are actually catfish that feed on bottoms of the very polluted rivers of Thailand.

We had these the other night, I did them with creme fraiche and chives, they were pretty tasty, not as nice as haddock though.

The fish naming business is lovely. Rock salmon has been around for ages.

Cornish pilchards were poor sellers until they became sardines!

Wonder who invented river cobbler - tastes better than catfish...
