The deal with roasted peanuts, and with non-roasted peanuts is they stink awful and taste the same.
All fast food outlets are best avoided, but you only live once so use in moderation.

Just to clarify my question re tuna : I have been given a 'Low-fat Diet Sheet' by my GP, which basically has 3 columns (1) Low-fat foods, (2) Medium-fat foods and (3) Higher-fat foods.
In the section regarding, Fish it states- (1) All white fish and shellfish, in column (2) Oily fish such as tuna (fresh not tinned), herring, mackerel, sardines, kippers, pilchards or salmon. Thease all contain healthy omega-3 fats.
Lastly in column (3) It states : Fish roe. caviar.
So what I really wanted to know was, Is it the oils or processing etc the reason for the statement in column (2) "fresh not tinned", or some other reason ?

Having fish oil capsules prescribed by the GP to supplement my statin
However - as over the last couple of years my level has never been less than 5.6, he's beginning to suspect that it's familial and may not come down. As my parents were both born in 1909 and people didn't have their cholesterol tested (or not as widely as they do now) when they were aging, I guess I'll never know if they had a problem which they've passed to me.

It depends on the nuts, bear in mind that peanuts are not true nuts, they are a legume like peas and beans. Most true nuts are considered healthy as they are high in unsaturated fats.
Also bear in mind that even if you could eliminate all of the cholesterol in your diet, you will still have some in your body as it is synthesised in the liver as it is crucial to life e.g. it is the substrate for the production of vitamin D in the skin.
