why do people make veggie burgers &veggie sausage? i have never taken a pork chop or a steak&tried to make it look like a cabbage or a carot or any vegeatable for that matter,what is the point?

I shall make my veggie burgers and sausages in the shape of triangles:if that makes you feel better!!never mind jacko!! by the way,thousands of years ago,dried broad beans,chick peas and spices were formed in the shape of burgers many years before they were even thought of!!so it looks likes the veggies got there first.( :)if you are still at school you have a lot to learn(:)have a nice day!!

It makes it easier for cooking... especially if you have a family of veggies and meat eaters.

Also, if you're still at school it's less obvious that your food is different from everyone elses' so you are less likely to be picked on.

When I was a scoutleader we always cooked veggie burgers and veggie sausages when we did outdoor cooking, as then we didn't have to worry about all the different dietary regulations for the different faiths in the troop. Nobody ever complained - although we did have to watch for nut allergies with some brands of veggieburgers.

i only asked there is no need to get on your high horse,i am not still at school but i thought that was a good putdown vinny ,i went to school in the 50s/60 a secondry modern in birmingham .the teachers at my school did not bother teaching anything as they knew we were not listening . i am sorry now of course but its to late .i can speak english but i am as you can see bad at writing it .anyway you make your burgers any shape you want .thousands of years ago when broad beans were made into burger shapes were they not just circular ,as you say burgers had not been invented?you have a nice day also.

i am sorry i asked now ,it is just the fact that they are called burgers & veggie sausage that i could not grasp.could i withdraw my question i have had enough,this was my first go at this and i think i should have spent more time looking at the site before i asked a question as i now realise i could have worded it better as not to offend anyone ,it was not my intention to offend you or anybody. i will in future have a good long think before putting finger to keyboard i apologize to anyone i upset. jacko.

Convenience.  So I can have a nice tasty, vegetable snack by just popping one in the oven.  I never make them myself though (they just fall apart whenever I try!)
Also, it's very easy when I go to a BBQ and means I can have hotdogs/burger in a bun as well!

thanks for that ursula i was a little upset (could you tell?) as i said in future i will think very carefully before asking anything else.also i have dug out my dictionary & thesaurus to help me spell ,i suppose that was my own fault for being to lazy to look up a word and then the pedants leap on me like a pack of wolves.of course i will still be in the wrong because of my composition but i think it is far to late to learn all that ,of course i only want answers not english lessons.i suppose i have upset someone else now .anyway thanks again.
