Saw on today's 'Come Dine With Me' that the contestants moved from house to house for each course of the meal. This brought back recollections of my parents and their fund-raising cronies who used to do this back in the 70s, but I can't remember what these so called 'fests' were called. Any ideas?

Safari supper is one term.
I recall my church used to organise something similar in the early 70s but I can't immediately recall the term used

since when did the contestants of come dine with me go from house to house for different courses? have the changed it? last time I saw it each person hosted a dinner party on separate nights and got points for it.

Series 4: Primetime[edit]
An hour-long primetime Christmas special was also produced during the middle of the series, using a slightly different format to suit the shorter timeslot. Only four contestants took part with each making a separate course for the dinner: starter, fish course, main course, and dessert. After each course the person cooking the next part of the meal would leave to complete their dish at home, which had been prepared earlier, before being joined by the other guests.

One of my friends lives in a village that does these safari suppers twice a year. She loves it. It would be my idea of hell.

Thanks mamylynne. We used to have 'pot luck' suppers in Canada but that was a bit different,don't think I'd like wandering around a village or town between courses
