Apparently a microwave is out favourite kitchen gadget closely followed by knives.....are knives a gadget?????

I'm quite surprised by this and wondered what you consider to be your essential kitchen gadget and how just how ubiquitous the microwave is in homes?

I wouldn't have called a microwave a gadget either, these days. If we are talking essentials - the electric kettle would be mine!

(My microwave is a combi oven, btw, we use the oven function far more than the microwave part.)

Soup blender
Ice cream maker and that's about it

A good peeler is a joy to behold, along with a very sharp knife.

a halogen oven
a wok
a slow cooker

all in use on a regular basis.

I don't any longer have a microwave and very rarely do I miss it.

I think my most used gadget is my stick blender and it's attachments.

When I used to drink coffee, our good coffee maker was fantastic - quick and easy. I don't drink it any more but OH wouldn't be without it.
I like a good knife, peeler and a steaming basket, although I wouldn't call them gadgets.

I agree with 'melv16' about a good peeler. I almost enjoy peeling pototoes!

When I see some actors on television in a kitchen scene peeling potatoes it make me cringe!

I have a microwave but it's used mainly for heating plates if the the other ovens aren't on. My essential gadget is the handle on the freezer. :o)
