Hello, I have an american recipe for ice cream and it says use heavy cream and half & half. Does anybody know what the equivalent is here in the UK please? Thanks in advance.

Half and Half, effectively a single cream.
Hi -I'm from Canada so can tell you exactly. Heavy cream is double cream and half and half is single cream.
It`s half cream and half milk.
the OP asked what the equivalent was in the UK -have you ever seen 'half cream in the UK?

OP if you want to be perfectly accurate then half and half has a little less fat content than single cream but your icecream will taste much better if you use single cream rather than watering it down with milk.
I agree totally with retro......keep the fat content up!
DtC personally I would make the icecream with all double cream or even clotted cream!
gets a bit rich for me - my sister adds gin or vodka in with Cornish clotted cream....softens it slightly and 'I was only eating the ishe-creem, offisher.'
