just made my first ones. You know the ones in M&S, better than that, apart from the one I made out of off-cuts. Honestly, I cant believe how good they look.(haven't tasted them yet, mind. In fact they look so brill it's a shame to eat them).

Cheese scones beat any other type of baking into a cocked hat in my opinion, my mouth is watering just at the thought of freshly baked ones....

Eat them! Quickly!
Otherwise they will turn into bricks!!!

Only keep for a day, though, don't they? All day tomorrow at a push?
I have never eaten a cheese scone. I have eaten scones. What does a cheese scone taste like? I would imagine it tastes a bit like sick but I`m hoping that I`m wrong.
Question Author
To be honest, I was expecting bricks in the first place.
Blumming kitchen looks like the Somme.
Lol svejk have you tasted them yet? I have never eaten a cheese scone, and I'm thinking I may make some tomorrow for a change. What sort of cheese did you use? I usually end up covered in flour, but my baking - so I'm told is Ok.
I used to make scones *every day* in a tea room. Yum. Best while warm.

@gran. I used Collier's mature cheddar. (ready grated, because I haven't got a grater)
Feeling peckish now--

Are they made the same way as fruit scones?
Question Author
I used 'bread flour' because I picked it up accidentally and I'm not going to waste it. Don't know if that's OK?
Question Author
They'll have a different consistency than 'cheese scone's' have. Let us know how they were!
Thanks for that svejk, I have some mature cheddar so I'll have a go at them tomorrow. :)
Question Author
Just for you lot, i'll go and eat one now, lol.
'Texture' Try making a second batch at some point with the right flour & you'll taste the difference.
Question Author
mmmm, lovely.
I hope you had proper butter with them ?
