Good morning Margo. Hope your feet improve long before Hungary. You haven't been getting into practise already have you? Tokay is not good for gout I would imagine ? xx :-)
In many chip shops in the North East if the fish in a chippy is not actually named it is Ling.A member of the cod family when skinned and filleted it looks and tastes like cod but when cooke the "flakes" are bigger.
smoneybags, while cod and haddock aren't in a very healthy state in some waters especially the North Sea some countries,Iceland for example, have been managing their fishing grounds very efficiently for years with the result while it might not be as common as it once was there is still enough to sustain a fairly healthy fishing industry.
Did you find any Rock Salmon in West Yorkshire? Did you try telephoning some from yellow pages or asking the fish suppliers? If you find any let me know. Wetherby whaler has plaice and catch has halibut but expensive. Chipmunks in Lincolnshire is good and loads around Bourne and Cambridge areas. As you say, not finding any in Yorkshire yet. Nuneaton and Tamworth as well as Sheffield have "Roe" (fish heads) though my diet currently could do with less fish.
