hes been poorly for 10 days. symptoms:- aches and pains.....runny nose........coughing........extreme fatigue (sleeping now)........loss of interest in anything / anyone.........average diet and fluid intake.

Never seen him like this before. He normally goes to work even if hes ill. Hes going to his GP tommorow. Would it be reasonable for him to ask to have his bloods taken to see whats going on. Poorly dog and poorly hubby OMG !!

Sounds like a respiratory virus infection...flu.

I am not sure that i would be asking for blood tests at this stage for a process that has only been going on for 10days.
The virus round here has been diabolical. I normally take 3 days to get over a cold and it took a month, ended up at the docs and prescribed a ventolin inhaler so I could breathe.
Same thing round here woofgang. Dreadful cough virus affecting loads of people, for seemingly weeks on end!
Sounds just like me a couple of weeks ago...It didn't want to eat for over a week.... took about 2 and half weeks before I started to get my mojo back. Good luck, I'm sure he'll be fine x
Sounds like flu to me - the real thing!
Same around here ...my friend's OH never normally gets knocked off his feet and my sister had it particularly bad too. It needs time and rest.
Mine wasn't flu because i could still get around and do a bit. Flu puts you properly on your back.
Had the same, ilovemarkb, so has most of my family. Its a horrible flu virus and knocks you off your feet. Wish him better.
My sister was effectively knocked out for a month by this, fortunately I was away for the England Italy game...however, how my mater didn't catch it, goodness knows, but then she has the constitution of an ox. Having the flu jab wouldn't have protected her, this strand of flu not covered when the learned medics made their educated guess to which ones we needed protection from.
ouch, definitely get the flu jab when it's available again: pharmacies, doctors surgeries, supermarkets all offer the jab for under a tenner
they don't guarantee full coverage, ac, like this years one that has laid waste to many an ABer and their relatives and the rest.
Friend, 83 yr old had it and has still not fully recovered. I had to get GP out to her but she is still very weak. She did have the flu jab but, as DTC says, it doesn't work for all strains.
I had a flu jab for the first time last year.

I can honestly say that I have felt grotty since that day. It might just be a co-incidence but I have not felt right for a few months.
Tis coincidence Tilly. The virus in the flu jab is killed. It can't multiply, spread or infect.
Sounds like 'flu. I got it this year in late Jan., despite being vaccinated. That is one thing, but then I developed bronchitis, which warranted antibiotics it was so bad, and I'm still coughing a bit after that. In other words, the 'flu will pass, but may pave the way for other infections which need treatment, so keep an eye open. Keep up the fluids and don't force the pace of recovery, the fatigue is real. Chin up, it will pass! :)
My sis-in-law is in bed ill - three days now, all her family have had bad colds, but she is poorly. There is always some bug going around and if you are feeling a bit run down already it feels worst.
