Has anyone spotted where you can get small jars of sauerkraut from in main stream stores?

Everywhere I see it it is in very large jars that would be wasted and it is not economical to make for just one person.

I've never had sauerkraut, what's it like?
Sorry, can't help with your question as I've never looked for it :(
I think it comes in large amounts only...I've had pouches of it from lidl, and they were huge.
Perhaps get a large jar and freeze one-portion amounts?
Actually, the whole point of sauerkraut is that it would keep and sustain people through the winter, just put it in a sealed container in the fridge until you need it again.

The size of jars I see for sale would out live me as I am the only one in the house that eats it.

I just want a couple of spoons on a Reuben sandwich from time to time.

I'll do a little experiment with freezing and see what happens when defrosted.

Oops, sorry Ethandron.

It is a lightly spiced white cabbage that is someway between being pickled and cured.

Goes well in a Reuben sandwich or on a Frankfurter (Unearthed brand recommended).
Asda has it and I would think Polish/Easter European shops would too.
Question Author
The polish shops around here have it in jars the size of footballs as do the supermarket world food aisles.

There's only little old me that eats it, I can't keep running up the road to the polish family.......it's getting embarrassing :-/
a jar of sauerkraut is a quid in Asda. I'm sure it'd last if you tighten the loid after use
