What religions request a vegetarian diet on a Friday? I've been asked by a parent to ensure that a child doesn't eat, metal, poultry fish or eggs on a Friday for religious reasons. It's not a problem, just wondered what religions would enforce this? I understood that the family were Hindus. Thank you.

Catholics traditionally refrained from eating meat on Fridays as an act of penance to mark the day of Christ’s death, but most are relaxed about this nowadays.
Hinduism is so vast that it can encompass other beliefs as well, so it would be possible to be a Hindu and a Christian as well. Hindus don't ever eat beef though, on any day, as the cow is a sacred animal.

^Yipee! It worked.
Why don't you ask the parents?
