What A Day!

We decided to take the twins to a play barn at Cirencester. Also to a restaurant called giraffe nearby. One of the twins is crazy about giraffes.
So off we set. Towards Gloucester then on the A417 to Cirencester. The traffic on the A417 was horrendous. A lorry had broken down so we were down to one lane. Journey took 45 minutes longer than it should.
Sat nav eventually got us to Giraffe. It was the cafe at Tesco. Inside no giraffes except two small paintings of one. Lots of stripes about but that was it. She was so disappointed.
We ordered food. Twins chose kids burger with chips and a pasta bowl.
OH order a burger with cheese and chips. I ordered fish fillet burger.
Two dishes came out, twins pasta and a cheese burger that OH had.
He had almost finished when another dish came. It was another burger, I pointed to the twin. Waitress said this isn't a kids meal. OH had eaten the kids burger. Twin had a go and managed about half of it. Waitress came with a plate for me. Chicken quisside what nots. I'm not sure how to spell it. I said that's not my order. She said that's what you ordered. I told her to go and check. She came back, apologised and said we had been given the table next to us order.
Still no food for me. She came and said it will be with you in one minute.
Five minutes later she came and said two minutes. I eventually got it ten minutes later. Everyone else had finished. she was very apologetic.
It wasn't very good really. Three fish fingers in a bun.
When I asked for the bill they said they wouldn't charge me for mine.
We went on to play barn. Only allowed 90 minutes as quite full. But they were so energetic I don't think they could have coped with more.
Traffic horrendous on the way back. Still got home safely.

Giraffe is just a brand, not a theme. They usually have an enormous fibre glass giraffe outside though, Didn't yours?
TBH I don't know quite what a Giraffe theme would be, but most of their retaurants I know of now are Tesco cafes where they have stopped having cafes.
They are not the best, coupling a restaurant environment with cafe at best service, but if I were you I would have googled before going there.
Traffic is always bad on an easter weekend. I spent an hour and a half on Friday getting to a local garden centre on a main route less than 5 miles away to buy a new bird feeding station because I didn't have enough room for the amount of goldfinches visiting. It was worth it.
Same applies for the Wacky Warehouse or whatever it's called. When it's that busy 90 minutes is more than enough. Kids feed off the adrenalin from the other kids.
I would call it a successful day.

Well at least that was a giraffe, though I'm surprised there wasn't a big one outside. Maybe it was a planning thing seeing as Cirencester is beautiful. I would always recommend googling places you are going to stop to eat. It's saved us a wasted trip many a time when restaurants have closed or are not what we expected from the name
