Mouth Trouble (Fillings)

I recently had a small filling in a tooth at the dentist. Even before the numbness wore off I had the unpleasant taste of metal in my mouth. The new filling was a 'white' one but I do have quite a few old metal fillings. I went back to see my dentist as this taste had been in my mouth for three weeks, he said that metal taste in the mouth can only be from two things: blood or bacteria build-up on metal fillings. He advised me to brush more on the metal fillings to remove any bacteria that may be there. This I have done religiously (although I always have done anyway!) but to no avail. I don't enjoy this taste all the time.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, did it eventually stop?

Thanks for that but as I am 70 this year I don't think I am pregnant and yes I am a chap. It was the wife's question . Most of my teeth reside in a glass over night . I hope at, 68,he is preggers though. The info is good. Many thanks
