All day gardening....albeit it very poor soil. After thirty years of planting and growing in wonderful soil this is taking some getting used to.
So today anything not earning its keep has gone.....lots of bare patches to fill with plants that have done well.....seems like lots of periwinkle I think....
The water features and pond fountains are all working well......though I think there comes a time when an aging bladder isn't up to relaxing so well in a water noisy garden.....Still, keeps me fit leaving it til the last minute and belting indoors.....
I find that filling up the watering can from the water butt always activates my waterworks.
You can't leave it too late because you have to wash your hands before going to the loo and that makes it even worse. It's such a relief when you actually sit down though. One of your Blisses!
Dull and very wet here in Manchester today, though the rain has tailed off this afternoon. I was expecting this mini heatwave that the news was touting!
Still, got to get out for a while with a coffee and my book though and sat outside, if undercover :)
My day hasn't been too bad. Went and did some banking and me and OH went to do a bit of retail therapy (I bought 6 box sets for £11) went for lunch and that's been about it. Prepared dinner and had my first run in with preparing Chilli's
Enjoy the Wine time - will be a soft drink for me and watching El Clasico tonight and will try not do a mum and shout at the telly
Camelias in bloom are a joy but not for cut flowers. Whereas Ive trimmed this up and budding stalks blossoming indoors are gorgeous, Ive yet to use the quinces successfully.
A steady drizzle and bitterly cold here in North West Wales today. I've NEVER known such a wet, miserable winter as this. I'm truly fed up of it now, and I like the winter normally!
I think miserable is the word, Horseshoes.......cold, frosty and bright is lovely but it's been so windy and too much rain......the soil I'm trying to dig is claggy and sodden...x
I'm champing at the bit Tilly! We've "inherited" a piece of land at the back of our garden which has now made it a lovely 98 ft long space. We're waiting to get a digger in to clear it, and then I'll be making a lovely veggie garden and were getting a few hens too. There's LOADS to do but we need some better weather than this.
Had a pretty productive day restoring the green house we acquired when we moved in.
We had to remove the trees that were growing up through and the rest of the vegetation from within.
I then set about buying new glass to replace all the broken ones, so far I have replaced about 10 sheets and probably another 10+ to go. I am removing all the rubber seals and cleaning or replacing them. The whole of the framework was thick with moss so is in the process of having the life scrubbed out of it, bit by bit it is turning into a sparkling new green house again. That pretty much all I have done today and a good few more days to go before its finished.
I went on a bicycle ride with my friends children they are 11 and 9 and completely delightful (though I think the eldest might be becoming a teenager). Knees are hurting a bit though is this a sign of things to come?
Sunny and delightful in Norwich!
Though my posterior is rather sore as well. Why do they make saddles that hardly fit your bum? Could of made it 10x as big and still wouldn't cover it.
