If there is a world's worst at egg poaching, I claim the title - keep meaning to try this method. Ignore the cheffy 'truffle' reference, unless you fancy it of course.

one breath of your sardonic wit, talbot, should set up a tsunami of an eddy in the pan - just have your eggs ready.
You could do six using that method, no problems.
I do it the Deliah Smith way. No swirling eddies or vinegar involved.

I use a deep frying pan with a lid

I poach eggs 3 at a time. I use a frying pan and the water must be boiling with just a little shake of vinegar, crack the egg into the water very gently and that's all there is to it. Perfect every time!

45 s in the mricrowave should give a perfick egg every time

im just after watching a programme 2 hrs ago on how to do the perfect poached egg.
1. fill glass with water, pop egg in , if it floats it is not fresh so wont make a nice poached egg. get a fresh one that floats.
2. do not boil water, bring to boil very vey gently.
2. gently stir.
3. add cider vinegar
4. pop fresh egg in, gently !!
5. stir a little , gently.

now you got it , right ?
I am not good at poaching eggs - however tried the cling film idea as opposed to getting round to buying them.

No, had no cling film so just used a little soft plastic bag (used for lunches) - done the job well.

Next time will do for 4 minutes - needed it.
