I imagine you may have my problem.Sweet chilli sauce makes my mouth tingle but anything hotter is very painful so I think it is an allergy .Strong curry has the same result.
I'd never put either "over my dinner"...I'd put it onto a small dish at the side of my plate. There are occasions when I would want the hot stuff and others when I wouldn't....
I just don't understand eating food that you can hardly taste the flavour of : because of all the heat coming from the sauce / peppers that's been put on it
I love hot chili sauce, but I only put it on certain foods. Most of my cooking is done to suit hubby who likes it mild, hence the chili sauce for me!!!
Oh.I see. So you have a liking for a slight spicy kick with your food then. It's just horses for courses really. In my youth I loved really hot Phals etc but my taste now has mellowed a little.I would still persevere with a hot phal today just for nostalgia.
I love all kinds of chilli sauce. I wouldn't put even sweet chilli sauce on my Sunday lunch, though.
The pain from very hot chillis is part of the appeal. I've got some peanuts that are flavoured with very hot chilli powder. It's impossible to eat more than two at a time, without it really hurting, but I love them.
