Just been and snaffled two Empire Pies, two lots of garlic mushrooms, a passion fruit roulade, and a couple of slices of lemon tart. Two bottles of Merlot completed my basket. Not bad for £20 :)

whats an empire pie?
Question Author
Apparently it's a lightly spiced curried lamb ragu sweetened with mango chutney, topped with onion seeds, fresh coriander and crushed potato. Never had it before but sounds interesting.
Is snaffled a noun or verb? Share where?
I don't like the sound of that, Eth.

I don't like sweet and savoury. I'll have the chicken, I think. each chicken does us for two meals so, even better value.
Question Author
snaffled is whatever you'd like it to be tambo, it matters not.
All found in the fridge in M&S.
Question Author
I love sweet and savoury Tilly, and always enjoy trying new things. I wasn't very impressed with the chicken to be honest, chicken's chicken, bit bland and boring.
I like chicken. :-)
Question Author
I like chicken too Tilly, we eat a lot of it, so when there's an opportunity to try something different I grab it.
I hope you enjoy it, Eth.

I'm off the the Food Hall tomorrow. Lidl today:-)
Where is your Marks? We discovered Empire Pie in Marks some months ago and loved it. We bought them whenever we could, but now it seems to have been withdrawn from Marks branches in North London.
Question Author
I've seen them in various marks, up and down the country, don't know why your shop has discontinued them.
I wish I'd seen this thread an hour ago as I would have gone to M&S instead of Waitrose :-(
Question Author
Doh, Eccles, sorry :(
...although Waitrose do an impressive "Dine for £10 for two" quite often...but not at the moment.
I'll let you off this time Eth!

I need to get a card tomorrow so will take myself off there in the morning, before it gets too busy.
Question Author
I've heard good reports of the waitrose meal deal, can't you upgrade to £15 and get a starter for two too, is that right?
...the last one I had (about a month ago) included starter for two, mains for two, sides for two and chocolates or wine...all for £10. The wine alone included a fine choice, some selling at £7. There is always a very good choice of about ten dishes in each category...in fact, too much choice!
Question Author
must give them a go, sounds good.
Maybe you could give a heads up ginge, next time it's on :)
Will do....if you have a myWaitrose card, they send you an email whenever there are any special promotions on...very useful (not to mention the free coffee and newspaper and 20% discount on your own choice of your favourite things!).
Question Author
We don't have a waitrose close by so I don't tend to go there often. I get alerts for the meal deal from m&s, trouble is last time the alert came two days late and most of the stuff had been nabbed.
I'll look forward to your alert ginge ;)
