I have a glut of small local variety cookers. They do not keep for more than a few days and I'm thinking of stewing some and freezing them for crumble in the winter of for having with yoghurt. Any other quick and easy ideas for them? I mean masses not recipes that use a handful! Thanks

You can cut them in slices and dry them in the oven, - great to nibble at; http://www.gettystewart.com/how-to-make-homemade-dried-apple-rings-in-the-oven/

I have though about cider woofgang, but cider making feels like a full scale hobby! I'd never drink it all either!
Make some apple sauce and put in small jars. Not sure how long it keeps. Could give some as gifts?
Make some jam or chutney. Apple pies and freeze them.
I'd peel, chop and blitz the whole lot in the microwave to cook it, then freeze it in useable amounts. You can then use it at your leisure for anything you like - crumble, pie, apple sauce, apple sponge, apple Amber, apple tray bake, presents, etc.
What seems like masses now, when blitzed in the micro (or stewed in a pan) reduces down considerably. I used to do this with cooking apples from my mums tree, never wasted a single apple.
make sharp apple sauce for Christmas, I don't think it is a good idea to put in glass jars in the freezer though, plastic containers would be better
I made some in glass jars last year and the didn't last well. However I have found that if when the hot liquid goes in the jar when you screw the lid on and turn it upside down for half an hour it seals brilliantly and keeps for donkeys.
Forgot to add that I also blanched whole apples and put them in the freezer. They go to mush when you take them out and cook them through but are great in pies and as Apple Sauce.
We core cooking apples, fill the hole with currants and Syrup and bake them. Then we freeze the baked apple. It only needs a couple of minutes in the microwave to reheat ready for eating.

Well I peeled and cored until I could peel and core no more, and then I stewed that batch for the freezer.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I especially like the idea of drying slices in the oven, and also using the microwave. Not sure why I didn't think of that myself.

We had baked apples for tea and I'll make some apple cake for the freezer too in the week. But there are still 20+ bucket fulls if anyone wants any!
