Not really sure where to put this question - "Food"? "home & garden"?, "chatterbank" - but decided to put it in "Food".

We would like to start cooking pizzas on our charcoal barbecue, and have a well-used pizza stone, which we use for all our pizza cooking in the normal oven. Does anyone know if I can safely use this pizza stone on the charcoal barbecue, without fear of it cracking during the cooking/baking process? And any advice on cooking it on the Barbie would also be much appreciated. Many thanks, cheers, Chox.

I dont know if you can use that one, I've got one that I bought specifically for the bbq.

My tip is heat the stone, put the pizza on it and if possible remove to coolest part or even off the heat. Cover if possible. I have found pizzas cook in about 5 mins and it is VERY easy to turn the base black.
Love to help but I can only guess. My guess would be that if you heat the stone gradually as the barbecue heats up, rather than heat shock it by putting it on when the barbecue is already very hot, then it should be ok. It tends to be sudden changes that cause issues.
Well I was feeling sorry because there were no answers and now I post one, another has appeared. I'm sure barmaid knows more than I.

thanks folks, much appreciated. What we had in mind was to heat the stone up in the normal oven before putting it (with the pizza of course) on the barbecue grid - so the stone would be hot before it's put on the grid. Perhaps we should invest in a pizza stone made by the makers of our barbecue so we know for sure that it will be okay. Cheers, Chox.
Takes a bit of experimentation Chokkie. Make sure you have at least one in reserve for when you cock the first one up (like I did!)
