If at home I used to love deep fried crinkle cut but if out good old fresh thick cut chippie chips from the chippie
Living alone and for simplicity - Frozen oven , straight or crinkly.

Occasional treat - real spuds double or triple cooked, deep fried.

ooh, you can't beat having a bag of chips from the chip-shop, only thing is they now come in polystyrene containers.
Nowt wrong with yesterday's newspapers :-)

Deep frying crinkles tonight Mamya, I'll send a bag down xx
Prefer freshly cut, deep fried, *crispy* but soft inside, any shape (although curly is nice).

Get oven baked, low fat, not overly crispy, and still more calories than I should have.
Ideally, peel my own spuds and cut with my crinkle chip cutter that I've had for donkeys years, then deep fry. In reality it's more likely to be McCain's frozen crinkle cut oven chips.
O+G, I'm intrigued - how do you cut fresh spuds into curly shapes?

ssh OG, I won't tell the Wednesday club :-)

I like the frozen crinkle cut, deep fried, for some strange reason I think there's more potato inside them.

Mum used to have a crinkle cutter and was fascinated when I saw her use it (I was a mere child)

ooh, HL, talking of the crinkle cutter also reminds me of the 'chip maker'

Does anyone remember/still have one of those gadgets that you put the spud in, pull down on handle and chips come out other end?
They have some lovely sweet potato chips here in Miami. Crispy and when you bite into them, lovely soft and sweet. Yum!
I remember that gadget alba, used to have one ! I just like chips full stop ...
Real chips, double dipped.
Triple cooked chips are lovely!
0n my own, so frozen crinkly oven ones. I don't remember the last time I bought potatoes to make my own.
Hi, Albs....crinkle....frozen and cooked in the air fryer.....with some sweet potato chips and honey glazed parsnips......all to dip in garlic mayo.....x
Oh, you have that right - I don't need another gadget.

Ta.
What is triple-cooked in this context? I know that to get crispy chips but fluffy inside you should parboil the chips first. What is the third stage?
I used to have a chipper and a crinkle cutter long gone I think.

Still have a melon baller and butter curler, no idea why - maybe inherited them.
Parboil, medium heat fry, full heat fry - with cooling between each stage.
I get others to provide the preferred product, I keep half an eye on the diet and settle for baking the oven ones. You can get bags of frozen curly though. (I like the look of triple cooked, unsure I could be enthusiastic for the effort taken though.)
