Albs...my uncle used to be a butcher. I send my knifes to him to be sharpened :-)
ummm, the very first time I saw the younger alba sharpening my knives, I went into 'mum mode'
He just told me to leave the kitchen lol
Only a Tesco and a very small Morrisons near me, anything more is at least a 35 mile round trip. The last proper butcher closed down about 5 years ago, could not compete with Tesco price.
My town center has 7 Charity shops 15 hairdressers/ beauty salons/nail bars 5 coffee shops , 5 funeral directors and very little else apart from the tiny Morrisons . Tesco is outside the town on an industrial estate!
Oh there are just 4 pubs left , one is a 'spoons' with real ale at £1.89 the rest charge £4 a pint and upward. One is always packed to the doors, the others are lucky to see 10 customers a day , guess which is which ?
Tonight it's 1/3 of an M&S 3 for £10 offer. So it's Portuguese inspired Piri Piri prawns topped with Roquito peppers. It's very nice...have had before...but it's beyond me how they can say it serves 2. I eat the whole thing!
But none of those offers feed as many as they state...2 yes, certainly not 4 as some packs say.

They never serve how many they say, do they Pasta?

Eddie, that is a sad indictment of the way our shopping centres are going. I am extremely lucky where I live and have two village butchers within a 5 mile radius, plus a farm shop, plus 3 or 4 country pubs.

I have just fed two ungrateful, spoiled little flea-bags. The food is seemingly poisonous. It is still in their bowls and they have stomped off upstairs.

I just checked the 'eat by' dates of the stuff in the fridge and I will be having sausages tonight.

rib-eye here, extremely rare, allowed to rest in a marinade of lemon zest, balsamic, chilli and olive oil, served with new potatoes that I par boil and give 20 in the oven and steamed green veg.
Probably a glass of water, my appetite has gone on holiday :-(
Cottage pie & chips here Barmaid.

Oh Eleena - cottage pie - COMFORT food!!!!!!!!!!
Have a piece of salmon that needs used so will probably have it with roasted veg and some basmati rice.
easy to do, Barmaid.....
It is Barmaid, after a busy week of extended granddaughter sitting, and it's Friday!! :0)
Scrap my prawn noodles. He decided to cook for himself which is rare! So I'll be having soup.
I am visiting my brother in Hospital this evening, and I am hoping the restaurant has that nice curry on again, like they had last week.
Northampton General nearly always has curry on the menu. It's quite nice too. I have it with half rice, half chips :-)

I hope your brother will be okay, Mikey x
Ummm....thanks. The poor beggar has been in since Feb 1st, when he had part of his cranium replaced by a titanium plate, after a fall. He is making greats strides in his recovery and we hope to have him home by mid-September.
Feel brighter soon Eccles.

Glad your Brother is progressing well Mikey.

I'm in a 'using up stuff' frame of mind, salad bits n bobs, tuna and a baked sweet potato.
After having a rummage in the freezer, I've come up with a stir fry using two sirloin steaks which were part of an m&s £10 meal deal, sliced up, and a sachet of teriyaki and ginger sauce which has been languishing in the feeezer since I can't remember when. Veg will be an assortment from the fridge which need using up.
Half an hour ago I had no idea what we'd be having, its usually some kind of fish related meal on a Friday but I just didn't fancy that today.
