Peanuts when pregnant
5 Answers
I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant and have real cravings for peanut butter on toast. However some books say I shouldn't eat peanuts and some sat it is fine. I am not sure which is true, does anyone have any advice?

I have three young children and I was advised by my midwife not to eat peanuts or anything containing Arachis oil or Peanut oil as it is known as there have been cases where children have developed a severe allergic reaction to peanuts , although this is more common when this condition is hereditary. This applies to pregnancy and breastfeeding. My advice would be to err on the side of caution and leave peanuts alone until after your baby is born to be on the safe side but obviously speak with your midwife or GP if you have any worries because after all , that is what they are there for. All the best when your time comes x
totally agree with the above answers, best to avoid them in any case, but especially if there is a history of allergies in your family (and not just food allergies, hay fever etc). I was was breastfeeding and so had to do without my precious salt and vinegar dry roasted peanuts for 8 months of pregnancy and then 16 months of breastfeeding. My beloved bought me a massive bag to indulge in the week after our baby was fully weaned.
