With grated cheese on top, brown sauce for him, loads of pepper for me. Probably a tangerine for after as I've found some truly tangy tangerines in m&s.
No question, just saying..

Conversely mamy, beans can never be too beany for me. My dad used to love curried bean, didn't they used to have a few sultanas in them?
And my beans have to be Heinz, I've tried so many other ones and none hold a candle, or even fork handles.
Question Author
Love both marmite and mushrooms, have to give both a go.
I used to love the tinned curried ones, now a teaspoon of sultanas and same of a good curry paste, add a spoon of boiled water and stir into the beans, scrummy.
Thank you for this thread, have just enjoyed beans on toast, cheese and brown!
Actually, I am having Heinz Macaroni Cheese on toast, with a sprinkle of Tabasco Sauce !
Cold baked beans with a salad?

I do hope you mean just the bean and not bean and sauce?

That's why I like these threads Jake, gives a bit of inspiration sometimes. We enjoyed ours too :)
That sounds interesting Mikey, I've never had macaroni cheese, tinned or otherwise. Maybe I'll invest in a tin tomorrow and try it sometime.
Yes, I rinsed the beans...

Not.

I'm now contemplating Welsh rarebit for lunch tomorrow, or maybe a tuna melt.

If I do have straight forward cheese on toast them a smear of marmite goes on before the cheese.

Cannot abide pulses in any shape or form.

I quite like beans and cheese but only on a jacket potato. Ever tried Ful Medames? You might like it. You don't put it on toast though. I like it in a bowl with a few feta chunks and a sprinkle of cumin, chopped onion or tomato on the top.

I'm not a fussy eater but a tuna melt would be my room 101 food, can't abide warm tuna unless it's a freshly cooked tuna steak.
ethandron....Heinz in tins are one of my stand-bys !

It dates from my camping days, right back when I was a boy. For instance, a tin of creme of tomato soup, with lots of crusty bread is simply wonderful.....ditto with creme of mushroom !

On Monday, when I had a drive up in to the Beacons, to look at the snow, I took some soup in a flask, and although the crusty bread made a bit of mess in the car, the soup was wonderful !

Baked Beans can be used in all sorts of ways.....with grated cheese on top, or by spreading some Marmite of the toast first !
Question Author
Had to look that up 237, I'm sure I'd like it, don't think I've ever seen it in Sainsbury's though ;)
Question Author
I so agree about the tomato soup Mikey, real comfort food, my mum used to grate cheese on top for us. I always have a tin in the cupboard.
I think they sell tins of it in Asda. The receipe varies around the Middle East though so I don't know what the Asda ones are like
Sounds yummy Emmie !
Love adding sweet chilli sauce to baked beans on top of cheese on toast!
mikey

yes it is, all the butter melts into the cheese and the mushrooms just compliment the nice sharp cheese.
