With grated cheese on top, brown sauce for him, loads of pepper for me. Probably a tangerine for after as I've found some truly tangy tangerines in m&s.
No question, just saying..

If I'm doing that as a meal rather than beans as a side I treat myself to the Heinz mixed beans, really good.

Ooh, not seen those zebo. Having a forage in sainsburys tomorrow so will keep an eye out, thanks.
I'd just have the cheese on toast, possibly with brown sauce and lots of pepper, with cold baked beans on the side.
You certainly know how to live Eth.

Nah, cheese on toast is too boring and a bit too cheesy for me, I do like cold baked beans though, used to have them with salad.
I hope I'm never reduced to that state of poverty when all I can afford is beans on toast.
Question Author
I certainly do Shoota, and you only know a tiny bit of it ;)
I find that they fall off into the toaster :-(
Question Author
So do I Jackdaw.
LOL @ OG.
If you're familiar with eths usual foodie threads, you'll know she has some stunning meals. ;-)
"cheese on toast is a bit too cheesy"

I know what you mean! I hardly ever drink milk these days - I just find it so milky.
Question Author
I know OG. After many years of cleaning out the toaster I realise it's much better to put the beans on the toast after the bread has been removed from the toaster. I'm sure I should have been taught that in home economics. Oh, hang on, I did Latin not home economics, that'll account for the lack of my culinary expertise.
There's no such thing as " too cheesey "...!!
Question Author
Dave, in a similar way I find a tomato pasta sauce too tomatoey so I totally get milk being too milky :)
Question Author
Pasta, I love cheese especially any blue kind, or a very tangy Lancashire, but cheese on toast without the benefit of tomatoes just gives me a sore mouth. Odd isn't it?
I spice or curry my beans up a bit, then they're not too beany.
Indeed, tomato overload is positively unpleasant, imo, especially some of the tinned/bottled prepared sauces.
Cheese on toast needs marmite, sous fromage, and fresh toms or onion on top.
try one day, cheese on toast add fried mushrooms in butter on
the top its absolutely delicious..
