Non Alcoholic Spirit Substitutes

I has anyone else tried any of the alcohol free spirit substitutes? Apparently you can get rum substitutes as well but not sure I would fancy that

Sounds the sort of thing they could sell in pubs so that the designated driver feels less left out.

I see no point in ( pretend ) drinks. Either they are alcoholic or not. Just my opinion though .

Over the years there have been several attempts to introduce non-alcoholic beers,one that comes to mind being "Kaliber" and the one thing they all had in common was that they were all *** awful.

Anne, some people enjoy the taste of alcoholic drinks and drinking in pubs but have to avoid alcohol for all sorts of reasons. I don't want to drink fizzy drinks or juice when I'm out so the choice of alcohol spirits will be a bonus for me.

Becks blue is ok as a non alcoholic lager and duchesse G&T is enjoyable and refreshing

I`ve said for years that there is a gap in the market for a longish, fizzy drink that isn`t sweet. I have tried some of the low alcohol lagers - Becks Blue, Bavaria and Cobra. The most authentic taste (if you can call it that was a mix of half Becks, half Bavaria. The Cobra was disgusting

What's the point? If for any reason I should eschew alcohol (not very likely) I would happily settle for a cup of tea (Tetley's extra strong, of course).

I was given a Seedlip one the other day outside Waterloo and I've just drunk it with tonic. Waaay too botanical for me, but it's all a matter f tastte, I suppose..

Can't see the point.When I was working and it was my turn to drive the company car on a trip, I drank tonic water with ice & lemon.
Looked like a 'proper' drink but no alcohol. At over £2 for a 330ml bottle I would not touch the Temperance Spirit.

It's personal choice and taste isn't it?

I haven't tried this but if it is reminiscent of Gin and that's a flavour you enjoy then why not.

I'm allergic to alcohol so when I'm out for a meal I usually have a Slimline Tonic with ice and lemon or a J2O.

I bought Mr U a Brewdog Nanny State, he reckons it is the best of the non alcohol beers he has tried.

I gave up alcohol 4 years ago and since then have tried hundreds of different so-called substitute beverages. In my opinion, the best non-alcoholic soft drink is not any of these substitutes but Crabbes Raspberry and Ginger, available from Morrisons or M&S It has a warming kick to it without tasting like a poor copy of something better! And Crabbes know a thing or two about drinks... If anyone reading this is trying dry January or just looking for something new, give Crabbes Raspberry and Ginger over ice a shot, it's a corker!

Verdict - It just tastes like tonic water which needs some gin in it!
