After years and years I recently had a steak and kidney pie. I was REALLY looking forward to it having loved my mums homemade one as a child. But it was rank. The taste of a kidney lumps were so distinctive and I had to throw it away. It definitely wasn't off, and the kidney tasted as I remembered... but for some reason I just couldn't stomach it!

Please tell me I'm not on my own! Next is to try liver and whether that is still as delicious as I remember! Fingers crossed!!

If it was a shop-bought pie then the quality can vary considerably. As to liver, I am fond of it, but only ox liver, not lamb or pig. It's not to everyone's taste; some find it too strong but I like it. It also has the added advantage of being the cheapest of livers. Last time I bought some I got a pound for 40p!

Jackdaw it was a shop bought one - in the reduced section as well! Maybe I just got unlucky. The flavour of the kidney was so overpowering!
I used to love liver and kidneys when I was younger, can't even stand the smell now.
