Have just read through all 49 replies to a question about favourite films. My question is - how many people actually read through all the replies to these posts and how many are just happy to get there tuppence worth in?
Speaking solely for myself, I read all the replies and as I'm not a big film watcher (evidenced by my choices) looked a few up to see what they were about.
If I get to a thread with only a page or two of (shortish) replies then I'll read through - but if my post is going to be #142 then I may only have a skim through (or not).
I do like the 'films' threads though - they often remind me of stuff I'd like to see (or see again), like Gromit did with the Grand Budapest Hotel this time.
Thanks for your honesty folks - most of you echo what I do. I am interested in films so did read all the posts and have written down a couple of "must sees" that I might have missed.
I scanned through the posts to see if I was the only one to consider movies that were neither British nor from Hollywood. (I was). I also looked to see if others had mentioned my 'runner up' choices, of 'Some Like It Hot' (yes) or the Ealing Comedies (no).
Similar to your thoughts though, Maggie, I often wonder how many people actually listen to any of the multitude of tracks posted nightly on Mamya's music threads.
I'm not sure that it depends on the poster, more the subject - re films, I know I've missed a lot over the years due to various issues preventing me attending cinema and I'm a fidget so won't sit alone and watch a full feature. However I do find plots interesting.
On my thread I don't see it as a showcase but rather somewhere for folk to air some of their favourites to round off the day - that's why criticising choices is frowned on.
