I think that including the time in the use-by date is merely a convenient way of identifying the time at which the item was processed/packaged - in case that needs to be determined at some point.
Yes I would eat it but being far from a cooking expert, one day or two should be ok... I dislike throwing food away but furry tomatoes had to go. Its always good to ask though if unsure... I asked about Eggs a few Months back... and they were some cracking answers.
Is it 'Use by' or 'Use before'? If 'use by' ,then be careful and cook it well & if 'use before' then no problem.
