I was going to cook chicken and stuffing in the bag later.
Guess what?
It's got yesterday's date on!
I seem to have lost a day again.
No way will I be taking a chance with this!
They have nice chickens in co-op near me so will have to buy another. Hurrumphh!

Sounds wasteful. Where were you storing it ?
Question Author
In fridge
Take the stuffing out and cook it as usual... i.e. not in the bag.
i'd cook it
If it looks and smells ok, ad I'd expect it to, should be fine 1 day over. Food isn't that predictable to the hour, so there's going to be a safety margin. Otherwise the cat's going to think it's its birthday.
i'd cook it
One day, I too would cook it.
One day over would be fine with me, just make it's cooked thoroughly - which you would do anyway, I'm sure.
What a waste! Did it suddenly go off at the stroke of midnight? There will be nothing wrong with it, just cook it and eat it for goodness sake.
Then again, I never buy things with incorporated stuffing. I have tried it in the past but it seems as though the stuffing stops it cooking properly.
What would you do if you bought 'proper' meat which had no sell by date on it rather than wrapped shop bought or killed your own? You'd sniff it, poke it and prod it a bit and if it was not obviously deteriorating you'd cook it and enjoy it :) Do that.

I know I know. You're probably all right.

For some reason I thought it was 26th today! I wondered why chicken was alone on shelf!
it's a chicken, it doesn't know it's 24 hours past its sell by date
Question Author
I just wouldn't enjoy it....
Go on; your cooking can't be that bad !
It will be absolutely fine. No wonder there's so much food wastage in this country if people take your attitude towards dates.
What a wasteful nation we are. What on earth did our parents do without sell by dates, use by dates etc.
My local butchers don't put use by/sell by dates.
