Red Wine!

My stupid flatmate has just spilt a glass of red wine over his carpet. I have the deposit on the flat- not him! Any quick advice as to what to do to avoid a stain? His carpet is beige I think!

A quick go with dish cloth and tea towel the some salt to dry it out.

No not white wine! Waste of wine and it doesn’t work.
Warm water with a bit of washing up liquid. Plenty of it on the mess. Rub in gently, blot, repeat as many times as necessary.

Nooooo! Blot first with towel, then cold water, blot again, repeat ad nauseam. Good luck!

There is a lesson for all here, though no help in this case, and one I learnt long ago; don't buy plain carpets (particularly beige ones)
In areas where wine and food is consumed (which is in most places chez Khandro) have lots of Persian and oriental rugs around the place, especially ones with lots of red in them, - a joy to look at too, and good ones maintain and even increase in value.
