Do they not have a sell by date on them, or is it mincemeat you have made yourself?
i'm terrible for ignoring sell-by dates -i find that if it looks ok, smells ok, tastes ok, then it is ok!! mincemeat has sugar in which acts as a preservative so like jam or marmalade it really does last for years
I agree with you glenis,sell-by dates are only a guideline anyway,as long as the mincemeat isn't mouldy it should be delicious. Enjoy!

No sell by date so they must be really old. I will probably end up erring on the safe side and throwing them away but I had the feeling mincemeat probably lasts for years.

Thanks for your replies

Well I know that from our experience that Vegetarian MM, will keep for 18 months if sealed. But with proper Suet, I wouldn't chance it! But then, if it smells fine and shows no signs of fermenting!...

Don't risk it.

Well if there isn't any sell by date on it, then I would bin it. For the sake of a pound or two it's not worth chancing it!

Definitely not worth it money wise. Just can't understand why I didn't toss it out years ago. I must have known I would never use it!!!
