My usual supplier is out of stock. Found others that advertise that they have it in stock, place an order - not available.

I know we are only 7 days in to the season but I can't even place advance orders.

Do you know something I don't?

I shall be attempting to reduce their number this coming Thursday all being well. (Assuming they are fully feathered and flying strongly...)
"They don't like it too hot, too cold , too wet or too dry. Well they sure don't mind the wet as they thrive in N Devon. I have spent many an interesting drive over Exmoor dodging the ***.
They are 'Daft' , ever heard the expression 'Bird Brained' !
>>> More than 90% of Pheasants are farmed now !

. . . but they're then released for shooting. A farmed pheasant doesn't have a great deal of value if it's sold directly to the public. However it's got plenty of value to an estate that's charging people over £10k per head for a weekend's shooting and where they'll need to ensure that there are plenty of bird to be shot.

>>> So most suppliers send most of their stock overseas !

They've probably been imported to the UK to start with, which might present problems after Brexit:

Further, I doubt that there's any significant export market, as the majority of birds that are shot simply get dumped.
There is a significant export market Chris, the near continent being avid consumers although they have recently done a deal to send them to Hong Kong.
To say the majority are dumped is simply untrue.
I can't see why pheasants would be dumped. I would imagine the Hong Kong market would be in it's infancy. I certainly haven't seen pheasant on the menu there.
This would be it's first season 237, it has been negotiated in anticipation of Brexit and altered European import regs.

Mozz, upper class? Pheasants make a very cheap meal for two and it has much more flavour than chicken.
Shoota - thanks for that. I think we (in HK) prefer chicken and pork :)
Talk about first world problems.....as Marie-Antoinette might (almost) have said, "No pheasants, let them eat pigeons".
Which bit of the UK are you in hc? Would be happy to drop some off if it is logistically possible.
