I have 8 big supermarkets within a 3 mile radius of me, 2x Aldi. 2x Asda, 2x Morrisons, 1 X Sainsbury, 1 x Tesco. just out of curiosity have driven to them all for a ride in the sunshine and to see the amount of panic buying, and yep there's lots of empty shelves, and folk coming out with trolley loads. Everywhere I've gone is like a Saturday, car parks full. The very sad thing I saw everywhere is older people who do they shopping on a Monday seem to be wondering round in a daze, and not getting the things they have come for. Shocking!!

Maybe those who are panic buying should consider donating some to a foodbank or an elderly neighbour.

I do not think deploying the army into supermarkets and supermarket car parks is a good idea, at all.

You seriously drove to 8 supermarkets and fought your way through full car parks for fun? I also question your interpretation of younger people coming out with overloaded trolleys while sad and dazed older people wander round not able to buy stuff

The supermarket limits are too high, two packs of toilet roll, even when there is 24 in a pack. Two hand wash ( 3 in poundland). Some places are even selling paracetamol in larger than legal quantities. uht milk 5 cartons, or a multipack , one old lady was getting upset I made her laugh by telling her to stock up on tena lady. Covid makes you cough doesn't give you diarrhoea... She left her shopping, scuttled back up the aisle and got some. She said you are right I didn't think of that...

Yep, I did read somewhere this morning that supermarkets are going to only allow older people in from 9am to11am, don't ask me where I read it because I've read that much, but by what I've seen today something really needs to be done. At least 2 of the supermarkets I went to, I know a lot of old folk use them because of the bus route, they where stripped bear of all the stuff older folk tend to buy (tinned) they looked really gob smacked, now they are all going to have to keep going for the rest of the week to try and get what they want, that is if they have the strength to keep going.

Had exactly that experience this morning at Sainsburys. I am 71 my wife is 72 although we both think we seem to other people to be younger !! We couldn't get what we really needed this morning, the main item being eggs (of all things !) - plenty of Easter eggs though ! We asked a lady who was filling shelves about eggs - "Sorry, we don't have any" was the reply. Why i ask myself ?? Lots pf people pushing their trolleys around as though they were at Brands Hatch, shoving others out of the way etc, it was madness. What the hell do they hope to achieve ? Rant over.

I feel like going round with a few spare loo rolls in my handbag for old folk in need but I would be frightened I would be mugged.

I often put the bin out for a elderly couple down my way and I told them that I will happily go to the shops for them but they are fine for the moment.

I told them that with the recent panic I have 4 spare loo rolls at all times so if they need any to come to me and I will give them one at no charge. They said they are fine for the moment.

Apart from being more vulnerable, this couple are much more capable than myself of actually getting these products, cus they don't have jobs.

Whilst i'm off to work in the morn they're able to go to the shops, getting there a good 8/9 hours before I can even think of going.

The working class will suffer the most from panic buying. Not the ederly.

Just been today hoping to pick up a couple of things w ehaven't bought for a couple of months-and I could only find one of the things I wanted. Chicken in white wine sauce in tins- one left (mixed in with some other tins). Toilet rolls- none to be seen. People were however buying jumbo kitchen rolls so I wouldn't be surprised to hear of lots of blocked toilets/drains soon.
I really don't know some people are going to be able to get toilet rolls- I assume they are snapped up as soon as they hit the shelves.
Surely there will come appoint where people will run out of storage space. I think this will drag on for many months.

Eggs in my local are scarce. As is loo roll although that has come back on the shelves in small quantities at a time.
