On 'The F Word' Ch4 on Thurs. Gordon was making mashed potato. When the potatoes were cooked he put them through a ricer, then proceed to add milk etc., stirring it round and round the bowl. How could it have been hot when served onto the plates. No sign of a microwave either! (I think Gordon hates them)

he mixed it all together over the heat.. the plates are always hot,and they usually rest on a hotplate befor being served
Did he use hot or cold milk?
As far as I was concerned he actually made creamed potato. Mashed potato is just that - potato mashed up with nothing in it. Put butter or milk in it and it becomes creamed potato. This causes constant arguments in our house as I come from up north where we have mashed pots, and partner and her dad come from the posh south where they insist on creamed pots. I have to dish up mine first and then add milk etc to their portion.
Really? I'm from "up north" and we have always had mashed potato with butter and milk added. They are pretty dry otherwise.
