I have been given a big bag full of peas still in the pod.
On sampling a pod, the peas are sweet. So my question is do you still have to cook these?
You can tell I am a townie!!!
You can and should eat a few without cooking, but never any great quantity. They will give you halitosis and the wind like you will never forget(or anyone living with you). Just boil a pan, salt the water put in the podded peas and simmer for a few minutes.
You don't have to cook veg if you like to eat awful raw plant life. But if you want it to be palatable you probably ought to cook it. Only some fruits are bearable raw.
Lots of vegetables are delicious raw - lettuce, carrot, pea, rocket, radish, spinach, celery, and I'm sure there are more I can't think of at the moment.
I grew some peas a few years ago. I vividly remember picking them all from the plant, and not one was left unpodded as I’d eaten them all before I got to the kitchen.
OG .. it may be just as well I didn't send you an invite to dinner tonight !
We have just had the best salad of the year so far .. lettuce, radish, pak choi, carrots, chard and tomato's all raw.
Not to mention coleslaw made with pak choi, red onion, sweetcorn, mustard and balsamic !
New potatoes and mint !
Most of it freshly picked this afternoon.
Had the podded peas been ready we would have had them as well !
