Raw Chicken Carcass

I very very seldom give my dog raw bones and never from a chicken - the reason I'm terrified of the bones splintering in his mouth.

I'm about to throw out a chicken carcass - can I give my dog any of it, this would be a first for me as you would guess the chicken has been cooked

I wouldn't, for the reasons you have outlined.
I would never give my dog a chicken carcass. I know a woman who used to put hers out at night for the foxes.

i'll not bother then but it was I was looking at another post re cat tartar and people suggested bones but perhaps it is the raw ones - could I get my butcher to give me some raw bones
I thought you could give cats/dogs uncooked bones but not cooked ones.
It may just be me but I am always wary of small bones, a large raw beef knuckle bone is ideal for even a small dog.
Chicken bones are definitely not recommended for dogs.

I wouldn't give my dog chicken bones either jj.
My dogs regularly have raw chicken wings, drumsticks or whole carcases - as long as they are raw they are fine. Even my baby puppies have chicken wings to help them with teething and they help keep their teeth clean too. With cooked chickens I pick off all the meat, skin and anything that isn't bone and they love it. Word of warning though although chicken skin is ok turkey skin is toxic to dogs.

Raw chicken bones are fine cooked not
I still wouldn't give them to my dog jj, cooked or not. My dog, my preference.
Personally would have boiled the carcase and used the resulting stock for soup. What was left would go out late at night for my urban fox family.
Always fed our dogs raw meat and bones but never chicken. Boxers have a habit of not chewing properly so too much risk of a small bone lodging in the throat for me.
lankeela turkey skin is not toxic to dogs. The problem with turkey skin is that it is very fatty and too much fat can trigger pancreatitis. This is important because I have known of owners who are careful not to give turkey skin but who give the fatty crackling off pork or beef fat which is equally bad! Turkey skin can be slow baked in the oven to render out the fat. What is left is a delicious crispy and safe treat which like all treats should be given in small quantities.
