Veggies!
Hi,
My husband has decided that after 35 years as a meat eater he is going to become a vegetarian as of the new year - on ethical grounds, he feels that he can't go on being a hypocrite and going on about the mistreatment of animals while continuing to eat meat!...does anyone have any good recipies that I could try?
He has also promised not to object to me and our son eating meat but feels that he doesn't want to any more - while I agree with his points and support his decision - its going to be a right pain!
ps he's not really keen on Quorn.
pps I give it 1 month max before he's desperate for a bacon sarnie!!!

I'm not a big nut eater either so it's not all nut roast at mine. I occasionally eat Quorn - about two or three times a year, but I could do without it.
As Ursula says, the Vegetarian Society is a mine of helpful information (I'd particularly recommend The Vegetarian Handbook); there are also a great many veggie cookbooks these days. Rose Elliot's books are good and I love my Madhur Jaffrey's Eastern Vegetarian Cooking but find the author you're happiest with.
There are plenty of good veggie websites too. Here's one that I use http://ashycook.topcities.com/index.htm but I'm sure you'll find others.
Good luck - maybe you'll be joining him in a year's time :-)

Don't know if he likes a drink now and again, but you may like to read this
I'm not a vegetarian but do enjoy lots of vegetarian recipes and can recommend the following two books:
Rose Elliott - The vegetarian kitchen
Roz Denny - The ultimate vegetarian cookbook
Buy him one of these as a Christmas present and encourage him to cook his own meals. This may test out how committed he's going to be, especially when all that delicious bacon is cooking under the grill !
For a very amusing insight into vegetarianism and to help your husband enjoy his nug roast on Christmas Day with a clear conscience, tell him to visit the following website.
