chocolate covered coffee beans

Somebody please help! I have tried to make chocolate covered coffee beans using packet coffee beans, the result was very crunchy and unedible, and not like ones you can buy in certain shops, does anybody know what i am doing wrong, could it have something to do with the freshness of the bean? Thanks

what type of coffee bean did you use, everywhere I have seen that does these seems to use Arabica espresso coffee beans. I have never tried to make them myself, for as much as I love coffee and chocolate, I don't like the taste of the bean in my mouth.
