We want to get rid of our trusty old chip pan and the beef dripping, and 'modernise' our chip making. We have heard good things about Air Fryers but will not be splashing out more than £80 or so. Do you have some good/bad genuine feedback please ?? Cheers Chris

well lots of people love them - my friend bought one for her house and holiday home. because of this I bought one about two years ago and I did not like mine, so believe it or not I gave mine to my nephew on Sunday there. I had only used it twice but you will get very favourable reports here.

I couldn't get on with it all.
I've had a number of air fryers over the years, all costing over £250, but my current one is the best by far, easiest to control, most versatile, and really easy to clean. It's a Xiaomi Mi Smart Air Fryer. You can control it with a single clickable dial on the front, or, optional with an Android or iPhone app, which also gives you access to online recipes. I think they are around 80 quid in the UK.
Been using them for years, Grandpa and wouldn’t be without them. Just changed our two for a double one and it’s fantastic. Dave is the chef. When he wakes up I’ll ask him to post the many advantages.
My friend says she loves hers but when cooking chips she uses a blob of lard instead of a spoon of oil. She insists the flavour and crispiness is much improved
I wasn't convinced about them, so we bought a cheap one from Morrison's slightly over 2 years ago. It's still going strong and I wouldn't now like to be without an air fryer. You still have to clean it every so often, of course. When this one 'dies' we shall probably invest in a more expensive one - or maybe buy another cheapo. It does a good job.

For roast veg, I parboil and then lightly fry in lard/dripping to coat before putting them in the air-fryer. Works beautifully.
Just buy oven chips.

So much easier.
Hoppy- oven chips are brill in an air-fryer, and a lot quicker!
Anything you would normally grill cooks far better in an air fryer.
As said oven chip are better in an air fryer than an oven.
Which? Best Buys range from £99 to £298. The only Don't Buy is £40. But there are a lot more in the £50 - £100 range which get fairly respectable scores.
What's the difference between an air fryer and a fan oven?
You can put the AF in a cupboard.
LB - I was about to answer that too - I also thought it was a monstrosity of a thing to have in your kitchen and no, I wouldn't have cupboard space to accommodate it. I think initially that is why I didn't give it a chance - far too big for two sausages and a slice of bacon.
