I am trying to perfect baking gingerbread. I must have about 20 recipes and they all appear slightly different. Some use treacle only, some use treacle and syrup, other just ginger and some with ginger and mixed spice. Has anyone a perfect recipe !! Its a competition bake

I'm no chef but suspect that different ingredients will give a different taste and texture. So what is good for one may not be the best for the comp. I suggest you try one and adjust the recipe to your liking for a further try. It may take several tries to get the desired result for you.
