I just had to tell one of the assistants in boots that the froot refresh drinks on the shelf is out of date, surely they should know this before even attempting to put it out like when it arrives from the supplier??

maybe it was in date when it came in, and went out of date whilst still on the shelf

What spaced says is probably right. We used to have to check the date on everything before putting out any stock making a note of anything that had a short date on it. The new delivery was then placed behind what was left on the shelf.
Yeah that's the right way to rotate stock but then all the customers get their stuff from the back and leave the rest so you can't really win with full shelves.We have this problem all the time!!!!
..stuff like this is usually checked on a daily basis in most supermarkets, however Boots being a chemist and not a main food supplier, and considering the time of year I guess it's just one of thoses things that got forgotten about ...

When I worked in a Boots store 10 years ago it was the one thing that was the most important on the food section. The person in charge of that section should do it on a fill up. And put old stock in front of new.And sort dated stock reduced in price.Before the sale by date. You could have taken it up with Trading Standards and they would get into real trouble.

Buy it, don't eat/drink it, send wrapper/bottle to head office with receipt, they send you an apology and a gift voucher.
