Fray Bentos . impossible to open?

I have been trying to open a tin of Fray Bentos steak and onion. My trusty tin openers have been used. They manage to open everything else but Fray Bentos it just won't budge. Help please.

I remember my nan using the chopping knife method as in BBs link, back in the day. Worked well.

I've got a magnetic one now which removes the lid with no sharp edges.

Got it open with a pair of tinsnips out of the shed.
A pain aren't they I had one on Friday, the tin must of rotated at least six times before success even slightly lifting the tin with can the opener so the blade cut deeper into the side.

Mines one of these:

The Trussell Trust advise against donating these pies to Food Banks. Once open the oven needs heated up for at least half an hour then the pie takes half an hour to cook. An hour's energy for a pie - not worth the money.
I don't know whether one of theses has been mentioned---A bull head tin opener?

I didn't know you could still get them.
My big oven takes 10 minutes to heat up, not half an hour
Impossible to open and impossible to eat.
Gotta love a sadist,,
I find attacking the can from a different angle works.
Pierce the top lid, not the side. The tin is thinner there.
I have stopped buying them for that reason. Also since being taken over by Baxters the quality has gone down hill.

I'm really pleased for you Barry. Not here to debate the pros and cons of different ovens - just repeating what a spokesman from the Trussel Trust said.
Fray Bentos is actually a town in Uruguay.
The more recent Fray Bentos tins actually state "we highly recommend both the Brabantia Essential Line and OXO Good Grips openers".
